Forget iPhone 11, Apple’s Next iPhones Detailed

Thinking about upgrading your iPhone in 2019? Don’t. The iPhone 11 is Apple’s ugliest model in years, and while there are some solid improvements, there’s also a lot missing. Moreover, we now know Apple will bring out the big guns in 2020

Credit for this news goes to CNBC, which has managed to attain a note from JPMorgan detailing what it knows about Apple’s next-generation 2020 iPhones. And, not only the information confirm previous good news, it goes further with the models expected to drive a major pickup in sales worldwide.

Building on what we already know, JPMorgan states that Apple will indeed resize both its premium iPhones next year, shrinking the 5.8-inch model to 5.4-inchesand enlarging the 6.5-inch Max to 6.7-inches. The next generation iPhone XR will stay at 6.1-inches, all of which is smart because it gives Apple sizes to fit every user preference. OLED panels will also become standard across the range. Furthermore, JPMorgan goes a step further than what we had heard before.

Thanks to its recent deal with Qualcomm and innovative groundwork laid inside the iPhone 11 logic board, JPMorgan says Apple will now bring 5G to every 2020 iPhone, rather than exclude the XR as we had been led to believe. In addition, “at least two of the three models [are] adopting world facing 3D Sensing (Time of Flight) driving industry-leading AR/VR capabilities which can be leveraged by custom built applications (including games).”

And it doesn’t end there. The iPhone’s famous notch may also become history, with a new punch-hole display hotly tipped for next year’s models. All of which makes them sound like the true generational jump iPhone fans wanted from Apple in 2019 after the 2018 “S year”.

So should you upgrade to the 2019 iPhone 11 under any circumstances? Personally, I see only two. First, photography fans will like their enhanced cameras even if some optical improvement were canned. Second, owners prioritising battery life should get the biggest boost in years. But, that aside, stay away. After all, even the famed iPhone second-hand values are unlikely to hold for the iPhone 11 because it will be a 4G phone in a 5G era. You’re buying a slice of a past.

So wait. It’s going to be worth it

Apple Leak Confirms Disappointing iPhone 11

Following on from this weekend’s stunning leak of the new iPhone 11 circuit board (which shows a less than quantum leap forward for the iPhone thanks to a slightly larger battery), it’s hard to see how the upcoming iPhone launch can make a difference to Apple’s current problems.

iPhone sales are falling, there is nothing new in the 2019 package to tempt consumers back to the iOS-powered handsets, and the dream of software and services ‘making up the revenue difference’  is a long way off. Analysts at Rosenblatt Securities have looked at the potential for the iPhone 11 and decided to downgrade its rating of Apple stock from ‘neutral’ to ‘sell’.

They expect that the sales of 2019’s iPhone handsets, including the new iPhone 11 XR, XS, and XS Max variants to continue to disappoint. Combine this with an expectation of reduced growth from Apple’s services and it’s hard to see how Apple can deliver results that show corporate growth.

In January this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook had to warn investors that the Cueprtino-based company would miss its quarterly revenue goal by almost ten percent. For a company that prides itself on understanding its audience this was an embarrassing momentPoor sales in Chinaand the other BRIC markets was highlighted as contributing to the miss, and there have been few signs that this has improved over the year.

From falling sales in India to being seen as a ‘second class’ smartphone, the iPhone is not performing in the key growth markets. There was nothing in the iPhone XS package that brought new consumers to the handset after the 2018 launch, and it’s a similar story with the 2019 models.

There is a slight reworking to the circuit board that will accommodate a slightly larger battery; there will be a number of additions that will allow the iPhone to finally include features that are seen as defaults for Android-powered smartphones; and Apple may be upgrading the camera optics but it’s an ugly solution with little flair to attract the fashionable buyers.

While Android-powered handsets are pushing forward with challenges to the expected form factors in the screen and forward facing cameras, faster and more efficient communication options in 5G, a wealth of options across multiple price points, what is Apple left with? The same offering as last year with a little bit more battery power, the same design language that was tired at best in 2017, and the same feature set as mid-range Android handsets.

Apple may have a suite of products that will “blow us away” as Tim Cook has promised, I just hope he doesn’t mean this year’s ugly and boring iPhones.

TikTok Suspends Users Who Posted Video on Jharkhand Lynching

A day after the Mumbai Police registered a complaint against a group of TikTok users for posting controversial videos related to the mob lynching of Muslim youth Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand, the Chinese short video-messaging app on Tuesday said it has suspended the users from its platform.

Shiv Sena activist Ramesh Solanki had filed a complaint against the TikTokgroup named “Team 07” – that has nearly 4 crore followers – at the Mumbai Police’s cyber cell.

The members of the group – Faisal Shaikh, Hasnain Khan, Faiz Baloch, Adnan Shaikh and Shadan Farooqui – uploaded a video supporting Ansari that was heavily criticized on social media for spreading hate speech. SB TECH

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
